Under the Umbrella

Today's Daily Shoot said to work the angles. So, I took this shot while sitting under a table umbrella in the playground at Spartanburg Day School. Later, my husband and younger son met my older son and me, and we all walked from here to the gym to participate in the tennis awards supper.

Swinging Emotion

The Daily Shoot said to take a picture with motion blur. I took several shots of my older son in the swings at Spartanburg Day School. I could not decide between two of them so submitted both. I love the implied and expressed emotion in the pictures.

Wires Revealed

Spartanburg Day School received a grant to renovate. The walls will stay, but windows, doors, and other components are being replaced or upgraded. It is amazing how quickly one can get used to something - like a missing ceiling. It isn't often that someone gets a glimpse of the wiring hidden away in ceilings, walls, and so on.

Fire Balloons

Actually, I don't know the real title of this painting. My older son created this piece, and it was hanging in the Dent Gallery at Spartanburg Day School today. The 5K's hosted a Mother's Day Tea, and I took the day off to spend time with my son.

The sunny round shapes in this piece remind me of what I think the globes look like in The Martian Chronicles.

Look for angles today (The Daily Shoot). Angles surround everyone everyday. I took several pictures with angles but like this one best. Everyone should play in angles.

Is the Ball In?

The weather is really starting to warm up. It was 70 today. The children were making the most of the nice weather at Spartanburg Day School. Here, some boys wait to see if a thrown ball will make it into the net.

Rare Striated Yellow Crane

Stealthily, I stalked behind the cars in the parking lot. I held my breath hoping to minimize noise. So far, the crane had not been alerted by my presence. As I stepped out from behind the last car, the creature froze. I took my best shot and caught a Rare Striated Yellow Crane!

Rounded Corners

The 365 blog is supposed to be about one picture. But, I could not choose between these two. I took both on the way home from work. Both subjects (the stairs and the arrow) have a nice rounded shape. I like the turn arrow better because it lends itself to more meanings.

The stairs are part of a playground set at Spartanburg Day School where my older son attends. The aftercare program is well run, and the women love taking the children outside in any kind of weather (rain, obviously, being the exception).

I snapped the picture of the arrow just for the fun of it as I was sitting at a red light. It wasn't until I got home that the angle was perfect for adding some interesting angles and interpretations to a normal road markings.
