Little Old Man

Heading Toward Mom by rudimyers
Heading Toward Mom a photo by rudimyers on Flickr.

This little orangutan made me smile. He played with hay and then took a stroll toward Mom. Later, he stuck his arm in what looked like a large oatmeal container. I could have watched him all day long.

The Muskovy duck is spoiled spoiled spoiled. He waited in the carport as I drove up with the younger son. The duck obviously expected bread. Younger son dutifully took bread out and gave it to Mr. Muskovy. He is going to want to come in the house and watch tv next!

Palm Sunday Donkey

St. Paul United Methodist had a donkey at church today. The congregation gathered outside, and the children waved palms (some sword fought with them). We processed around the outside of the church and stopped at the side entrance. The adults entered inside and sat down. The children came in behind the choir when the service started.

Everyone enjoyed petting the donkey who was very kind and patient. Here is a picture of my husband and two children saying hello to the donkey (who was temporarily named Christopher for the service).

Muskovy Duck

Muskovy Duck
Originally uploaded by rudimyers
When we first moved into our house, there was a pair of Muscovy ducks living on the lake. One year, the female decided to lay her eggs in a planter (full of potting soil but no plant) right by the back steps. I moved the planter knowing our comings and goings would upset her greatly. Those eggs didn't hatch (raccoon or somebody got them), and I don't think they every did have any ducklings. The female disappeared, and I think either a turtle in the lake dragged her under, or our not so nice to wild ducks and geese neighbors shot her.

This poor fellow is limping due to a turtle grab. Here he is in our carport after a long absence looking for a handout. Considering the lake is frozen over, I don't blame the fellow.
